Our Spring 2013 production was a pair of one act comedies from Christopher Durang:
Performances of ACTOR'S NIGHTMARE & SISTER MARY IGNATIUS were very well received l !!
We had a great time in Hudson, at the charming & intimate Valatie Community Theatre, at the BRIK Gallery in Catskill, and finished up with 3 great performances at the Berkshire South Regional Community Center in Great Barrington.  If you missed it, you missed out on a wonderful pair of shows.

“R.A.R.E. Explains It All For You”

The Two Of Us Productions, a local theater company based in Copake NY, is pleased to present a pair of one-act plays by Tony & Obie Award winning playwright Christopher Durang. Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It For You & The Actor’s Nightmare, which helped establish Durang as a master of satirical comedy, are being presented “on the road” a 4 venues across the Columbia County/Berkshire County area between April 19th 2013 and May 12th 2013.

In Sister Mary Ignatius the show opens with Sr. Mary explaining to the audience the basic beliefs of Catholicism. Part-way into her catechism lesson four of her former students, now grown up, enter to perform a Christmas pageant from their childhood school days and reveal to Sister Mary the effect of her teachings on them.  Frank Rich of New York Times wrote, "only a writer of real talent can write an angry play that remains funny and controlled even in its most savage moments. Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You confirms that Christopher Durang is just such a writer".

In The Actors’ Nightmare, George Spelvin finds himself inexplicably backstage one day. When he is confronted by the stage manager, Meg, it becomes apparent that he is the understudy for Edwin Booth and since "Eddie" apparently broke both his legs George must perform tonight since he is the understudy.  This play was inspired by performance anxiety dreams that actors, as well as all of us, often have.

The cast for this production hails from across New York’s Hudson Valley and Western Massachusetts.  In Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It For You Sister Mary is played by Louise Pillai, Diane by Cyndi Miller, Gary by Matt Leinung, Philomena by Kim Mauch, Thomas by Josh Bay, and Aloyisius by Mark Leinung.  In The Actor’s Nightmare George Spelvin is played by Harold LaDue, Meg by Betsy Rees, Henry by Paul Mulholland, Sarah by Lael Locke, Ellen by Roseann Cane, and the Announcer plays herself.
