We would like to thank you for coming to see, and hopefully enjoy, our production of Man of La Mancha.  Man of La Mancha is a deceptively powerful show.  It is beloved for its wonderful music, respected for its literary roots, and yet it can catch the audience unawares as the story of the idealistic and honorable Don Quixote (and of his creator Miguel de Cervantes) unfolds before us.
Man of La Mancha tells us that we can, as individuals, take responsibility for making our daily world a better place.  The tale  of Don Quixote, a person who yearns to live in a society based upon chivalry and respect for others, is the basis for the modern day stereotype of hopelessly “tilting at windmills,” and prompted the adjective “quixotic” – meaning “caught up in the romance of noble deeds and the pursuit of unreachable goals.”  But it is his nobility of purpose that catches our imagination, and ultimately the imagination of Aldonza and every prisoner in that squalid Inquisition prison in 16th Century Seville, Spain.
Mounting this new production on the 403rd anniversary of the publication of Don Quixote by Don Miguel de Cervantes has been a pleasure and a privilege. We would like to recognize Ichabod Crane High School and St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church for supporting this production. This event is made possible in part with public funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by the Twin Counties Cultural Fund in Columbia County by CCCA, and by the Columbia County Board of supervisors Regrant program in support of the arts. .
Thank you to our wonderful cast and production team for all the creativity, hard work, and theatrical excellence that has brought Man of La Mancha to life.  An integral part of our show is the music.  Thank you to every orchestra member for your musicianship and commitment to excellence.  Music is the heart of a musical and we are honored to have had the opportunity to work with so many fine singers and instrumentalists.
